base unit is the main part of the pc that lies flatthis main box where you insert the cds and/ordisks sometimes incorreclty called the processor the monitor or the hard drive

laptop

also called a notebook computer is small personal computer desgin for protability usually all of the
interface hardware that is needed to operate the laptop such as usb port previously parallel and serial ports graphics cards sound channel etcare built into single unit

Mobile phone 

A mobile phone allows calls into the public switched telephone system over a radio link. Early mobile phones were usually bulky and permanently installed in vehicles; they provided limited service because only a few frequencies were available for a geographic area. 

Now a days mobile phones can surf the web an also can be use as a mp3 also you can watch videos and can play games eg snake 

 

 GAME CONSOLE A handheld game console is a lightweight, portable electronic device with a built-in screen, game controls and speakers. Handheld game consoles are run on machines of small size allowing people to carry them and play them at any time or place

A tablet personal computer or tablet PC is a tablet sized computer that also has the key features of a full size personal computer

Embedded devices are small programmable chips that can be programmed to execute certain orders
the control panel in an elevator is an embedded device
thermostat in your Air conditioning unit that senses the temperature and runs/switch off the A/C according to the surrounding temp
thermostat in your coffee machine that senses the temp of coffee/water mixture
Auto sliding doors that senses the temp of people approaching the door giving the command to a mechanical accessories to slide open then close after certain delayalot of things that run without human beings intervention are generically described as Embedded devices

Output Devices

Printer  In computers, a printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper. Printers are sometimes sold with computers, but more frequently are purchased separately. Printers vary in size, speed, sophistication, and cost. In general, more expensive printers are used for higher-resolution color printing

¨speaker gives you sound output from your computer.  Some speakers are built into the computer and some are separate

The monitor displays the video and graphics information generated by the computer through the video card. Monitors are very similar to televisions but usually display information at a much higher resolution.

Keyboard

 a keyboard is a input devices designed to enter text characters and other commands into the computer and yo alos need a keyboard for mircosoft

Mircophone is use to recored sound.Then the sound is saved on a file in the computer also  converts sound into an electrical signal Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones, tape recorders, karaoke systems, hearing aids, motion picture production

Joystick is use to move the curosr from place to place and to click on various items in programs a joystickis used mostly for games children mostly are the ones that have joysticks

scanner is used to copy pictures or ther things and save them as files on the computer

webcams are use to have video cyber chats there are long distances away  yuo can have  videos chats  with familys or business it is lot easier to use than typing all the time it means you just have to sign inot skype and you see if there online then click on the webcam symbol.

bar codes scanner scans we lebels thats has bar code on then that information is then saved into the computer bar codes are moslty in shops

 ¨A touch screen is a computer screen or other screen that you can touch with your finger to enter information.  Examples of touch screens include a smart board a microwave a dishwasher or an ATM at a bank also many supermarkets have touch screen machine in stayed  off standing in a line.  like sainburys has them.

A digital camera can be used to take pictures.  It can be hooked up to a computer to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer.  Some digital cameras hold a floppy disk, and the floppy disk can be taken out of the camera and put directly into the computer
